How to Market Your Creative Small Business Without Social Media.

Hi friend, I’m Sophie, an introverted coffee-loving creative. Welcome to Finding Simple & Calm, a place where I share the harsh realities of motherhood and being neurodivergent in my pursuit of a simple life in an overwhelming world. I’m also passionate about creative businesses, and I love writing about, and teaching, methods to simplify and organise your business, reduce the overwhelm, and spend more time being creative.
My whole-hearted mission is to build a business baggy enough to live in, a business that works for me, not the other way around. I hope you can join me?
Hello lovely lot, how are you?
If you’re new around here, hi! Let me catch you up quickly.
I’m currently in a phase of simplifying my offerings, reducing the overwhelm and making my business work for me, not the other way around.
And I’m doing this because I have three children, one of which has complex health needs, I’m neurodivergent and sometimes my brain doesn’t work with me, and I have my own mental health issues to contend with, too.
To put it simply, I’m creating a flexible, gentle but sustainable business that is baggy enough to live in. I don’t want a busy, 5 figure month business that I have to work in every second of the day to stay successful. I don’t want to be on all of the social media platforms and constantly creating new content to suit an algorithm. The hustle culture and #girlboss vibes just aren’t for me.
For the longest time, I didn’t know that I could run a small creative business on my terms. Sure, I was my own boss but I always thought I needed to be on social media and creating Reels to sell my products. Small businesses NEED social media, that’s the rule, right?
Wrong.
I’m so pleased I was wrong.
After stripping everything back, I looked at ways to market my business that don’t require my undivided attention, and (amongst others) Pinterest was one of the ways!
I absolutely love Pinterest, and I don’t think it gets enough credit as a marketing tool for creative small business owners. Especially for introverted, neurodivergent parents who don’t have the time to always create new content to market their business.
I’ve always used Pinterest personally, and I also used it successfully when I ran my small print business. But I’ve never used Pinterest whilst running a service-based business, and I’d love to see how it’d work for me. I know it will work because I’ve helped clients do it, but I’ve never done it for my own service-based business.
So I’m inviting you to join me.
I’ve built a 31-day Pinterest course that will be delivered every day via email. It has actionable tasks for you (and me) to implement to get set up and create optimised pins and boards that convert to sales.
The best bit? We’re going to create intentional, ever-green content (pins) that can be found years later. That’s because Pinterest is a search engine and not a social media platform.
My paid subscribers get this email course for free, and if you don’t want to upgrade your subscription and become a paid subscriber, you can still join the 31-day Pinterest course by purchasing it separately.
I’m working through this course with you, and you’ll have the chance to get my feedback and support throughout the course. You can start whenever you like, and you may find it helpful to do this with a friend for accountability.
I’m going to start in March because it has 31 days, and that makes my brain happy. Come and join me?
Upgrade your subscription to paid to get access to the course as well as all of my other business tips and behind-the-scenes posts about running a flexible, gentle and sustainable creative small business.

Let’s build a business that’s baggy enough to live in.
I’m tempted to sign up for this. I love Pinterest. I use it to create my annual mood board in January and every month after that so I am more intentional, mindful and seasonal with my life. I also use it to explore my personal style.
This is all part of my self care and complex grief recovery and trauma healing. My aim is to find more joy after suffering tragedy.
I’m a registered trauma- informed HAES (health at any size) dietitian and family coach and I’m looking to create more flexible online work so I’m interested in using Pinterest as well as Substack.
I've never given Pinterest a second thought after shutting down my travel blog in 2020. It seems to have changed a TON since then!
Will your course be available for purchase after March?
