Today we’re starting a brand new module - Family & Relationships. To catch up on the course so far, here’s the link to the first 6 modules:
When we embark on a simple & calm life, it’s purely for ourselves. We do it because we want to live simpler, we want to be calmer, we want less stress. I don’t recommend forcing this life onto anyone else in your family or friendship circles. Instead, focus on yourself. By creating this life for yourself, by being calmer and less stressed, you’ll find that this ripples out to those around you anyway. Before you know it, others will see a difference in you, and you’ll then become their beacon of calm. What a gift that is!
Having the conversation:
All those years ago before I started my own simple living journey, I knew I wanted to change my lifestyle. I didn’t know how to actually do that, but I knew I needed to try. One of the first steps for me on my journey was to talk to those closest to me about what I wanted, and how that might impact them.
I spoke to my husband and told him that I wanted a simpler life, and that I was going to make some changes to my lifestyle and our home. I can’t remember what he said exactly, but it was something along the lines of “OK, great, do what you need to, have fun”. I don’t think he really understood what I was meaning, and, to be honest, I didn’t understand either, but at least he knew that I was changing things. I’d prepared him, anyway.
