How do you navigate Substack Notes without getting sucked into it like other social media platforms? (I don't post many Notes but find myself scrolling incessantly which I'm not too happy about)
How many publications do you subscribe to on Substack? How many people do you follow? I regularly review how many accounts I'm subscribed to, and that's because I only have a limited amount of time to read their posts/ Notes.
When I look at my Notes, because I don't subscribe to many publications, they tend to just show me the same Notes. So I get bored and don't stay there long.
I also switch my feed to 'following' instead of 'home' so that I can just see the Notes from people I subscribe to.
And, in the app, if you go to Settings > Appearance, you can change your default tab to 'Inbox' instead of 'Home' which is your Notes feed. I find this helps me stay off Notes more.
Thanks Sophie - everything you said makes sense. I'm only subscribed to/follow about 10 people/publications, but I find the 'Home' Notes section really overwhelming. As much as I don't want to use it I keep getting sucked in scrolling... I will try to change my homepage, thanks!
