Yes, yes 100 times yes! Autumn is my season, I struggle with summer too, I struggle to focus and be creative in the heat and some days my brain is done by lunchtime when it’s really hot...not great for the 9-5 worker. The whole vibe of Autumn is much more my speed 🍂

I’m the same, Claire! I find it really hard to do most things in the summer. People often find that strange, but I’ve found people here who are the same as me and really struggle during the summer months. I thought I was going mad at one point, so I’m relieved that there are others who understand the struggle. I’m coming into my season now, and I can’t wait! 🥰🍁

Loved reading this, totally me too!

I come alive in Autumn/Winter. I also love the rain and find it calming and peaceful.

So lovely to know that other people get excited over the cooler months too.

I think I’m ready for autumn. I know I need to embrace it more than I have in the past. I’m a spring person really. I love the promise of new growth and getting back out in nature. But I guess I know deep down I wouldn’t appreciate it without the cold that goes before it.

I think both autumn and spring can feel like new beginnings, and one can’t be enjoyed without appreciating the other. You’re so right!

Autumns is my season as well. The season of the soul and the perfect mood for the reflective, introverted soul I am. Mystery, coziness, warmth, darkness. It feels as everything softens and I can finally breathe. I’ve been calling in autumn + writing of the slow vibes since September 1st. 🧡🍁

Autumn is my soul season too! I always find summer is so much pressure to go out there and 'live your best life.' My best version of life is in a chunky sweater, candlelight, rain outside and a good book in hand. Can't wait to read more of your writing! Aimee x

Not sure if you like watching Youtube but I've just discovered this girl and she makes the most autumnal, joyful content. Love watching it over a slow breakfast. https://www.youtube.com/@DarlingDesi

Oh yes to Autumn! I love summer too but Autumn has my heart and soul for sure. The colours, the air, the spiralling gradually inwards! I get such an excited feeling at this time of year. Xx

I really enjoyed this post- Autumn is my favorite season too! I find summer exhausting even though I don't have kids at home anymore (empty nester:) I've been breathing sighs of relief that it's getting darker earlier. I'm looking forward to getting out my turtleneck sweaters and reading some mystery/thrillers under my favorite blanket

I’m so pleased you enjoyed the post. Ah, that sounds perfect. I’m excited for that too. I’m looking forward to the little things like wearing jumpers, putting on a hat, or needing to wear a dressing gown when I wake up on a morning. So many cosy moments 🥰

I'm so ready for Autumn! I can already feel my creativity rising with a 1000 different ideas swirling through my mind. Autumn is definitely a time of 'nesting' for me - I completely reorganised my office yesterday and even allowed myself to burn my first 'Autumnal' wax melt, it was such a treat!

Amazing! I’m itching to organise and declutter my office too, I just need to find the time. I know what you mean about your creativity rising, I feel that too! I’ve had so many new ideas for Substack posts recently! 🤩

Yes to all of this! So ready for Autumn, I think it's my favourite season too. A time to curl up with a book, a cuppa and some crochet and be cosy. I definitely feel my energy rising too in the Autumn after an all consuming summer, but that might just be because I'm revelling in the novelty of just having my youngest to look after now my eldest two are back in school! I'm trying to take it slow too and just enjoy the extra time and headspace, it feels good.

YES! You've described it perfectly. My older two are back at school now, and I feel like I've got extra headspace right now too. Even juggling with a baby feels manageable now the pressure of summer has been turned down. It certainly does feel good.

Yes, just some time to breathe makes a huge difference doesn't it. I am so glad it feels like this for you too. The pressure of the summer, it was a lot, all a bit of a blur now looking back!

Yess!!! You know I never thought of SAD in the summer because so often it’s associated with the darker days in my mind, but I truly feel that same feeling w/ summer. I don’t enjoy the outdoors as much bc of the heat, the anger definitely builds up then I feel guilty bc that’s the time I have w my kids not in school! Anyways, I am with you on all of this and so ready for that cozy, productivity and crisp air! I wish where I lived we had it starting but still a bit too hot for my liking!!

I didn't either. I always knew that I didn't feel as happy in the summer, and then I read this post by Jenovia (it won't let me tag her!) https://open.substack.com/pub/jenovia/p/mean-reds-and-migraines-with-aura?r=1qsdfj&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web and it all made sense.

Yes, I feel EXACTLY how you're describing it too!

Oh I just saw your comment on there, you also get migraines?! I feel like I have met another community within the writing one here that also has this struggle.. which I wonder if that is why we also gravitate towards this introverted work -- to also help others as well as tend to what we need for our health 🤍

Yeah, I get migraines from the heat and light. It's awful and it can knock me out for an entire week sometimes. I felt the same! Like, finally, people understand! I think you're so right 🥰

Oh, yes to this! As an outdoor coach, I often use the seasons as a metaphor, but this reminds me that different parts of nature flourish at different times of the year. I too love the Autumn, and this letter has helped me acknowledge that it is a new start time for me too. Thank you!
