I’ve just come back from a week away and I have to say Notes was a very pleasant surprise. I hope it keeps it’s point of difference from the other social networks and serves to inspire and create real conversation and connection.

I really hope it stays unique to the other social media platforms too! It’s a lovely place to be

Same to a lot of this! After realising I couldn’t take social media anymore I came to Substack as a way to still share my writing and connect with likeminded people without having to rely on social media. When I first saw Notes I was definitely a bit apprehensive of being sucked into a social media platform again but like you so far the experience has been very positive (like finding his post!). It feels like a more positive, safer creative space and ad-free too! Substack definitely feels like an exciting place to be at the moment and it does feel like this model could be the future of social media (or how it should be!)

Yes! I really don’t want to rely on social media because it then becomes a chore. A must. A necessity.

I’m glad you found my post. It really is much safer and much more positive over here. Long May it continue! 🙏🏻

I'm really loving Notes so far! It feels like the older days of social media where you were actually interacting with people you knew. What I love the most is how it's helping me find new substack publications to follow (something I'd kind of struggled with before). For example, I only found this post because of a Restack from Claire Venus!

What I don't want is for Notes to turn into just throwaway content, where people are posting because they feel like they have to. I think we all enjoy the quiet of substack and the intention behind it. I really hope that Notes is a space where people share recommendations and quotes from writing they like/things that bring them value.

Yes! Exactly this!

I’ve found lots of incredible writers since the launch of Notes, and everyone seems so lovely and supportive (especially Claire, she’s amazing!).

Yes, I agree. There does need to be some intention behind the Notes or it could lose its charm.

I can so relate to this post! I've loved being on Substack and its somewhere I find I'm spending more and more time. I was a bit concerned when notes launched, as worried it would have the pitfalls of 'normal' social media that I've left behind. But its not a bit like that. Such a inspiring and kind place to spend time. I'm excited to start using it!

I was so worried too! I was eager to get your take on it Molly because you’re the reason why I was inspired to leave social media in the first place. How are you finding Notes now you’ve had chance to explore it a little more?

Aw thanks lovely. So far it feels like a positive space, so I'll wait and see how it goes :)

Ooh, love this Sophie! You said it so well. I’ve definitely ‘given up’ on Instagram since finding Substack. The Notes feature kind of freaks me out and I haven’t really gotten into it yet, as I was never really into Twitter, but your post makes me want to keep trying!

I couldn’t get into the swing of Twitter and for what I’ve seen lately, I haven’t missed out on anything. As for Instagram though, I did really love it once upon a time. That’s not the case now. It’s changed drastically over such a short period of time and I found that I didn’t recognise it anymore.

For me, I’m using Notes kind of like Instagram Stories. I’ll post short form content, a quick snippet or musing that I’d like to share or discuss 😊

I feel the same way! I loveddd Instagram so much back in the day, but now it just gives me anxiety to post and I hardly see anyone I actually want to see on there anymore.

I think using it as stories is a great idea!! I actually just posted my own version of stories on there too. I'm sure it will definitely still be fun to share :)

I LOVE substack. Only started writing a few weeks ago but feel I could create so much momentum in my life!

I also love rebelious types & Simple living which is what drew me to you Sophie. :) If I could I would downsize, pay off the morgage and get rid of so much stuff! But I am living with a husband who hoards ( I mean keeps things 'just in case') and 3 adult sons (two may be gone by the end of the year) Love then AND want them to fly fly fly............. :)

I haven't tried notes yet as I didn't quite understand what it was and have yet to add the substack app to my phone. No social media on my phone for about 2 years and it's been liberating. In fact I never got into twitter or insta at all. And I love that Notes is a kind of rebellion. So thanks for introducing me. :)

I’ve loved Substack since joining, and it’s been a wonderful tool for my creativity.

I’m glad you’re here, Karen! I hear you on the downsizing too. My husband is always looking for a bigger house for us but I love our home. It’s small but perfectly formed and I don’t want a bigger mortgage!

Oh how amazing! I left social media for a few weeks until Substack Notes came about. Definitely don’t try it if you’re happy with the current set up of Substack and your existing boundaries. I’ve found that it’s been the perfect replacement that I needed for social media.

Oh I love a good rebellion! My finger tips are tingling with excitement!

I did two wee note posts and it is a cosy place, I think I just need to get used to it being there and figuring out what works.
