We stop at a clearing next to a fallen tree. There’s a large wooden table beautifully set under twinkling fairy lights. Cushions and blankets are scattered around, ready to get wrapped up in. We eat from a buffet of party food, there’s cake and biscuits and endless tea and coffee. At the table we chat and the conversation flows - because it’s all relatable, and we are each others people. We belong here.
Hi! I'm a little late joining and I guess I could wear that sentence as a badge on my coat, lol! I'm Marie-Louise, a 45 year old creative and mother. I write Weaving the Strands, https://marielouisecee.substack.com, where I intend to share my poems, paintings and reflections on the intricacies of life.
I love the forest retreat idea, since I deeply miss being in nature lately (I live in the city center, which is good to walk everywhere but definitely lacks trees!).
I live in the beautiful Aix-en-Provence in the South of France with my 2 of my daughters (the 2 others left the nest already, my husband and my lovely rescue beagle Arwen.
I'm looking forward to journeying alongside like-minded people. I'd bring my famous scones with a jar of my mom's apricot jam. It's my last jar but I'd happily share until I make my own and carry on her jam making legacy ;-)
What a wonderfully descriptive post! Honestly this could be the intro to a book on slow/simple living amid chaos. As for me, hello everyone! - I'm fast approaching 30 and I write about neurodivergence from a late-diagnosed perspective: https://neurodivergentnotes.substack.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=substack_profile. I don't drink tea or coffee, but I'd bring hot chocolate and my lemon Madeira cake!
What a joy to join a quiet forest retreat! I’m Lisa, 50, Australian/Finnish dual citizen, parent to 3 adults (2 my own + 1 stepson). I’ve been on Substack for years, I’m talking pre-pandemic.
I think I might bring a thermos of tea for an afternoon chat, with a bottle of stout. Love me some ale & stout & porter. Also, my home is fairy light heaven. Helps me through the long dark winters in Finland. ❤️
Hi Lisa! Oh wow, you're a Substack veteran! I love the name Flucking Flourishing 🤣. I'm going to check out your publications, and I'd love to visit Finland one day! 🩶
Hi Sophie and everyone! I’m Mica (pronounced Mee-kah) and I’m the woman behind The Night Writer.
I’m a 46 year old mother of two sons (19 and 8), married, work full time as a program manager by day, and write at night for fun. I’m celebrating 26 days on Substack 🎉
I enjoyed the picture you have painted in my mind in the forest. I would be bringing with me a warm mug of coffee for the mornings and I have my decaf earl grey tea for evenings. (Both with cream, of course) I’d be sharing with you pumpkin loafs because I believe there is never a wrong time of year for them.
I’m a middle aged, menopausal loan parent to a now adult child who just started working after her A levels. I’ve been working on my substack for the last 5.5 months and am now working on a second as well.
This forest retreat is amazing and somewhere I’d really like to be. My flask is full of mellow redbush tea and there’s a packet of ginger nuts in my bag - along with a notebook and pen.
Look forward to meeting others here under the twinkly fairy lights 💚
Thank you ☺️ - and yes this sounds like a perfect place to retreat to irl too.
My second stack is going to be essays around some stuff that’s happened in my life with the premise that all those events have led to my current state of disarray.

Don't give me another idea to pursue!! 🤣
Your writing on neurodivergence has been such a comfort blanket for me since discovering you. Thank you!

Hi Bronwen! Your Substack sounds fab! What is your second one about?
I know! Wouldn't it be good if it was a real space we could go to?
I'm so pleased you're here 🥰
Thank you ☺️ - and yes this sounds like a perfect place to retreat to irl too.
My second stack is going to be essays around some stuff that’s happened in my life with the premise that all those events have led to my current state of disarray.
Excited for you, Bronwen! Writing can be so helpful when working things out. I know it is for me. Good luck with it!
Thank you Sophie 💚
